The school has a variety of scholarships to assist students pursuing a range of courses. These courses cater to international students and span from vocational education and training (VET) to undergraduate and postgraduate coursework, as well as higher degrees by research

Scholarships available at Victoria University
1. VU International Scholarship
The VU International Scholarship is designed to assist new international students who intend to start their higher education in the school in 2023.
2. Australia Awards scholarships
Australia Awards scholarships are a type of long-term development award provided by the Australian Government and managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Their purpose is to address the long-term development requirements of Australia’s partner countries.
3. Foreign-Government Funded
These scholarships are offered through partnerships between the governments of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia and the university for their citizens who wish to pursue studies in Australia.
Eligibility Criteria
VU International Scholarship
New students who are starting a higher education diploma, undergraduate, or postgraduate (coursework) program at VU Melbourne are eligible for this scholarship. However, English courses, Foundation Studies, VET programs, and Research courses do not qualify for this scholarship.
Australia Awards scholarships
Australia Awards Scholarship recipients must sign an agreement with the Australian government, committing to follow the scholarship’s terms and conditions. These conditions include returning to their home countries and staying outside of Australia for at least two years after completing the scholarship. Not fulfilling this commitment will lead to scholars owing the full cost of their scholarship as a debt.
Foreign-Government Funded
The primary requirement is to hold citizenship in the country offering the government-funded scholarship you are applying for.

- VU International Scholarship: A 10% reduction in tuition fees applies for the entire standard duration of eligible courses.
- Australia Awards scholarships: The scholarship covers tuition fees, a living allowance, Overseas Student Health Cover, and academic support.
- Foreign-Government Funded: The scholarship covers tuition fees, a living allowance, and Overseas Student Health Cover.

Kuwait – How to apply
To apply to VU, you should contact the Kuwaiti Cultural Office regarding your application. After accepting your offer, you need to provide a Financial Guarantee that includes: The name of the University (Victoria University), your name and student number, the name of the course, the duration of sponsorship, and details of the scholarship entitlement.
Saudi Arabia – How to apply
To apply to VU, follow these steps:
- Apply to Victoria University.
- Upon receiving an offer, apply to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Higher Education.
- Accept your offer from VU.
- Provide a financial guarantee that includes: The name of the University (Victoria University), your name and student number, the name of the course, the duration of sponsorship, and details of scholarship entitlement.
Sultanate of Oman – How to apply
To apply to VU and secure sponsorship from the Sultanate of Oman, follow these steps:
- Apply to Victoria University.
- Communicate with the Consulate General of the Sultanate of Oman regarding your application.
- Once you receive an offer from VU, accept it.
- Provide a Financial Guarantee that includes: The name of the University (Victoria University), your name and student number, the name of the course, duration of sponsorship, and details of scholarship entitlement.
United Arab Emirates – How to apply
To apply to VU and secure sponsorship from the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates Military Attaché Office, follow these steps:
- Apply to Victoria University.
- Coordinate with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates Military Attaché Office regarding your application.
- Once you receive an offer from VU, accept it.
- Provide a Financial Guarantee that includes: The name of the University (Victoria University), your name and student number, the name of the course and the duration of sponsorship, and details of scholarship entitlement.
Indonesia – How to apply
To apply to VU with sponsorship from the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, Department of Education and Culture, the Republic of Indonesia, follow these steps:
- Apply to Victoria University.
- Collaborate with the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, Department of Education and Culture, the Republic of Indonesia, regarding your application.
- Upon receiving an offer from VU, accept it.
- Provide a Financial Guarantee that includes: The name of the University (Victoria University). your name and student number, the name of the course, the duration of sponsorship, and details of scholarship entitlement.
Deadline
The closing date for the Victoria University Scholarship is the admission deadline which is October 1, 2023.
