The wait is over after waiting for years for your NECO Exam and the next step is how to collect your original NECO certificate. The article will provide updated info on getting it and other things you should know.
Before the release of the original certificate, The National Examination Council allows students to have access to an official document of their NECO result which they can use for job application and admission at home and abroad.
To confirm the validity of the result in case the original certificate s not yet ready, there is also a system put in place called NECO e-Verify. This is an online tool that can be used to check and confirm NECO exam results for candidates anytime and from anywhere. This can be accessed by schools, organizations, and other establishments.
1 When will NECO release my original certificate?
The NECO certificate can be collected after 4 years of the examination. However, your examination result slip can be used pending the time you get the original certificate. Also, if there is any reason for a 3rd party to doubt the authenticity of the result, the NECO e-verify would help confirm the originality of the result slip.
The council is also working around the clock to adjust the waiting period. In a few years to come, it could drop to one to two years.
2 Requirements for Collection of NECO Certificate
Below are what you need for the collection of your NECO original result:
- Court Affidavit
- NECO Photo card
- One passport-size photograph
- An ID card
- NECO result printout
- A small fee payable to NECO
3 NECO Result and Certificate payment details.
If you wrote your exam as a school candidate, simply go to your school for payment. Most times, it would have been collected alongside the fees you paid for the NECO Exam.
Below is the breakdown of the fees for NECO private candidates, otherwise known as NECO GCE candidates:
- Printing out of NECO result costs ₦1,250
- Payment for collection of the NECO certificate costs ₦200.
4 How to make payment for the NECO Certificate
Below will give you detailed information on how to pay for the NECO result and certificate:
- Simply visit the NECO dedicated payment page for all services – https://payments.neco.gov.ng/payment
- Click “SSCE External” from the categories/list.
- Search among the list under it for the one you want to pay for. For the certificate, it costs ₦200 as already stated.
- Make payment by using your preferred payment option. Understand that the payment is non-refundable. Therefore, always pick the right category.
- Print out the receipt after payment.
5 How to collect the NECO Certificate
To collect your NECO, you will need to visit the NECO State Office where you sat for the examination. You should go with every document listed on this page including the printout of your payment receipt.
