School Resumption Date in Nigeria 2024/2025 for all States

The school resumption date in Nigeria is always met with the same anticipation as when they are about to go for a break by students all over Nigeria, especially when they have had a very long break.

After a while, students begin to get bored, and here come the usual questions such as:

• When will schools resume?
• Are we resuming this month?
• When will we go back to school?
• When will school resume for the 2024/2025 Academic Session?
• What is the resumption date for the first, second, or third term?
• When are we resuming for the next semester?

The parents and guardians are not also left behind as they would want to know when their children or wards will return to school. However, it is also important to understand that the announcement encompasses all schools at all levels in the 36 states in Nigeria, namely primary schools, secondary schools, colleges of education, polytechnics, and universities.

When will school resume for the new session?

The Federal Ministry of Education has set the resumption date for all students across the 36 states in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory, to September 9, 2024. Therefore, students are expected to resume in their respective states for their new academic session or term.

For Tertiary students such as University or Polytechnic Students, especially the new students who are yet to get the hang of things, you may want to resume before others to have adequate time to get familiar with your new environment. Preparation is key, so going at least 3 days before the official date will get you mentally and physically prepared for what is to come.

It is imperative to understand that even though the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Education usually announces the resumption date, State governments at times could set a different date due to circumstances beyond their control.
