Entrepreneurship may not have the popularity of courses like Accountancy, Economics, and Business Administration but it is currently among the best courses available to students, especially Commercial Students. Entrepreneurs play an important role in the economy and choosing to study should also be considered the right move especially when we consider the array of opportunities one can key into.
Aside from meeting the O’l level requirements in approved exams such as WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB, you will also need to choose the approved JAMB Subject Combination for Entrepreneurship during your UTME Exam. Direct Entry Students, otherwise known as DE Students will also be able to apply and with the advantage to start their session in 200 levels.
What is Entrepreneurship?
Entrepreneurship means starting and running a business, taking all the risks, with the main goal of making a profit. For example, Sarah started her own bakery, taking the risk of investing money and time in the hope that her business would be successful and profitable.
The educational setting will equip you with the skills to effectively manage a business. You’ll gain insights into running a business, utilizing available tools, securing funding, developing innovative products, and outperforming competitors. As a graduate, you won’t only be an innovator capable of managing your enterprise but also a specialized manager with the expertise to manage ventures for others.
Why should I Study Entrepreneurship as a Course?
Like every student, it is understandable to develop cold feet when choosing a course that most people are not familiar with. This should not weigh you down as the course is worth going all the way for. There are many reasons why any student can benefit from studying the principle of entrepreneurship but the most highlighted one is the creative thinking skill. With this skill, you will be able to come up with new ideas or innovative ways of doing things. This skill is marketable and will provide you with an opening into a wide variety of careers.
Another is being trained on how to adopt different innovation theories which you can apply to create smart plans for your organization or business. By understanding innovation and theories, you can help your organization come up with strategies to compete with big companies or get ready for new technologies that might impact the market.
Being a graduate of entrepreneurship will never limit your opportunities, instead, it will create many others. You will be able to pursue a career in many various establishments and fields and with good salaries for your efforts
As a student, you will also be quick in thinking and decision-making. You will be able to recognize opportunities and know when to strike.
