Scholarship Value
1. Presidential Scholarship
The Presidential Scholarship is available to high-achieving students. The scholarship amount is determined based on the performance of the student and can range from $21,000 to $26,000 per academic year.
This scholarship is assured for your first year and can be renewed annually as long as you continue to be a full-time undergraduate student and maintain satisfactory academic progress toward your bachelor’s degree. It can be renewed for a maximum of ten semesters and is specifically designated for covering tuition costs.
2. Distinguished Scholar Awards
The Distinguished Scholar Award is available to high school students who have excelled academically but may not meet the criteria for the First-Year Presidential Scholarship. This award can vary in amount from $15,000 to $20,000.
It is also for full-time students and is similar to the Presidential Scholarship. To continue to benefit from the scholarship, you must make satisfactory academic progress toward your bachelor’s degree, and can be renewed for up to a maximum of ten semesters. It is intended to cover tuition expenses.
3. Charger Award
The Charger Award is granted to students who demonstrate commendable and consistent academic achievement but might not meet the criteria for the Presidential and Distinguished Scholarships. The value of the Charger Award ranges from $10,000 – $14,000 and the actual amount you get will depend on your performance.
This award is assured for your first year and can be extended annually if you continue to be a full-time undergraduate student, maintain a minimum GPA as specified, and make satisfactory progress toward completing your bachelor’s degree. It can be renewed for a maximum of eight semesters and is specifically designated for covering tuition costs.
4. Transferring Students Scholarship
The Transfer Scholar Award is designed for full-time students who are transferring from another college or university. To qualify, students should have completed at least 12 credit hours at their previous institution and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship amounts differ based on the student’s GPA and can range from $12,000 to $24,000.
Where and how to apply
When you apply to the University of New Haven, you will be automatically reviewed for an academic scholarship, and there is no need for an additional application. In other words, there is no need to complete a separate form to get the scholarship.
Deadline
All applicants must complete the application for admission by May 1, 2024 for the fall semester or January 1, 2024 for the spring semester. The closing date is the same as the deadline for the admission.
