The University of British Columbia (UBC) in partnership with The Mastercard Foundation is inviting Students from Africa to take advantage of the University Of British Columbia MasterCard Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship.
This program was motivated by the need to nurture and train the next set of leaders who will be taking over from the older generation. This gives an opportunity to learn from the best and the hope that after school life, all scholars will be able to bring positive growth to the economy while also stimulating social transformation in Africa.
Program of Study
Undergraduate courses/Bachelor’s degree in any course offered at the Host University.
Eligibility
Below are the various requirements all applicants are to meet to be eligible for the Scholarship:
- Applicants must be international students and must have accomplished remarkable achievements in their education. This can be demonstrated through outstanding academic performance, notable extracurricular involvement, or notable awards and honors received during their educational journey.
- The candidate must be a citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country and have resided there for a substantial portion of their life.
- Must be willing to relocate to Canada to study at the University of British Columbia.
- The applicant must not have applied to UBC before and also apply directly from secondary school.
- The intended beneficiary must also demonstrate a great need for the financial support needed for education in Canada. Additionally, a brilliant effort in academics and extracurricular activities
- Applicants must be individuals who need a Canadian study permit to pursue studies in Canada.
- Must also be willing to satisfy all other requirements as pointed out during the online application.

Sub-Saharan Africa includes Central Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, and West Africa. Strictly for Africans!

Application Instruction
Scholarship consideration is usually after you receive an offer of admission to UBC. The scholarship decisions are typically made between mid-March and the end of April annually.
This timeline allows for a comprehensive evaluation of all candidates and ensures that the scholarship selection process aligns with the admission process. It is automatic and this requires no additional application.
