The University of Abuja, commonly known as UNIABUJA, is a federal university located in the Nigerian capital city of Abuja. It was established on January 1, 1988, and was founded to provide higher education opportunities to Nigerians, as well as serving as a center for academic excellence and research.

UNIABUJA began its academic activities in 1990 with the admission of its first set of students and started class activities on a temporary campus in Gwagwalada but later moved to their permanent situated in Giri, Abuja.
