Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education (SRCOE), Kumbotso, has its origins in 1981 when it was established as the Advanced Teacher’s College, Waje, by the Kano State government. Renamed College of Education, Kumbotso, in 1982, it underwent changes and was divided into separate campuses over time. With the creation of Jigawa State, the college split into two campuses specializing in different areas. Following mergers and restructuring, it became Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, named after the wife of Kano State’s first civilian governor. The college’s objectives include offering education courses, advancing knowledge through research, and providing vocational training for teachers and administrators.
The university was converted from Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education to Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education by the Kano state government in 2023.
