The Nigerian Maritime University (NMU) is an institution established to cater to the educational needs of the maritime industry in Nigeria. The university was proposed by the Nigerian federal government as a specialized institution to provide training and education in maritime-related fields. The NMU was officially established in 2018 through the passage of the Nigerian Maritime University Act by the National Assembly.
