Niger Delta University (NDU) is a public university located in Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Established in 2000, it was founded with the mission of providing high-quality education and research opportunities to students from the Niger Delta region and beyond.

The university was established by the Bayelsa State Government to address the educational needs of the people of the Niger Delta region, particularly in the areas of science, technology, and development-related disciplines. It began academic activities in 2001 with an initial enrollment of a few hundred students across various faculties.
