James Hope University (JHU) is a private postgraduate institution situated in the serene Twin Lakes Estate, Lekki, Lagos State. Established in 2021, JHU received accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to provide high-quality education that fosters critical analysis, creativity, and advancements in various fields.
Founded by Mr. Jim Ovia, the Founder of Zenith Bank, through his nonprofit foundation, JHU is dedicated to upholding international standards of education. The university aims to integrate global academic excellence to drive the knowledge economy, spur innovation, and enhance the socio-cultural landscape.
The decision to establish JHU stemmed from the success of James Hope College, the encouragement of stakeholders, and the vision to elevate the James Hope Foundation’s educational impact. A Planning and Implementation Committee (PIC) comprising seasoned academicians was formed to develop the university’s inaugural programs.
