O’Level Requirements to Study Accountancy
Faculty of Administration
For admission into a University in Nigeria, you need five credit passes in SSCE (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB), including English, Mathematics, Economics, and two other relevant subjects which could be from Accounting, Commerce, Office Practice, and Government. Most schools allow students to combine O’level results except for a few schools which is usually stated under the special consideration of the course.

Five (5) SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects.
Direct Entry Requirements to Study Accountancy

- Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government, and Geography.
- National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in relevant programmes including Accountancy with either an upper or lower credit respectively.

How many years does it take to Study Accountancy?
It takes a minimum of 4 years to earn a degree in Accounting. However, if you are a direct entry student, this should take at least 3 years since you are more likely to start from the 200 Level.
What is the cut-off mark for Accountancy?
Students who score at least a minimum of 140 in the JAMB UTME are eligible to participate in the POST UTME as part of the requirements for applying to study Accountancy in their chosen universities.
