Global Affairs Canada, represented by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Development (DFATD), initiated a Scholarship program called CanadaCARICOM Skills Training for the Green Economy (CCSTGE) in 2020.
The program offers students from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member states a valuable opportunity to benefit from short-term exchange programs at publicly funded Canadian colleges and institutes. This arrangement aims to provide vocational skills to International students from eligible member states.
Like every Scholarship, this also comes with some requirements that all applicants must satisfy. We will be going into detail on how to prepare for the Scholarship and what other things to expect.
Program of Study
Full-time studies or research as defined by the Canadian institution
Eligibility
To meet the eligibility criteria, you must fulfill the following requirements:
- The applicants must be a citizen of a CARICOM member state.
- The intended beneficiary must be paying tuition fees to the home institution at the time of application and throughout the duration of your exchange.
- You must also have been admitted to a full-time program in an institution in any of the eligible CARICOM member states.
- You must not be currently benefiting from any other scholarship designed by the Canadian government.
Target Countries
Caribbean Community (CARICOM) which includes Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Montserrat, Jamaica, Haiti, Guyana, Grenada, Dominica, Belize, Barbados, Bahamas, and Antigua and Barbuda.
Host Institution
All Canadian post-secondary institutions with a valid agreement with the home institution.
Scholarship Value
- Technical or Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the certificate, diploma, or associate degree level: $8,200
- Technical or Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the certificate, diploma, or associate degree level: $14,700.
The Scholarships can be used on other expenses such as Travel, Accommodation, Ground transportation, Living expenses, and Health Insurance.
Application Instruction
First, you assign a program coordinator to handle the completion of applications.
- Then login or create an account on Momentum to proceed with the scholarship application on behalf of the students.
- Once you have successfully logged into your account, navigate to the “For Non-Canadians” section and select the Canada-CARICOM Skills Training for the Green Economy Scholarships Program. Then, click on the “Apply Now” button.
- Ensure that you provide the necessary information in the mandatory fields and carefully follow the instructions for each item.
- Please upload all the required supporting documents. Remember, each document should be in an acceptable format and not exceeding 5 MB in size.
- Before submitting, double-check the data you are about to submit.
- To submit the application, click on the “SUBMIT” button. A confirmation message will be displayed along with a reference number for the submitted application.
- Print the form using the print function in your browser.
