British Council Scholarships are specially tailored to Women in STEM. Women are now more interested in STEM, and it is not surprising why much attention is now given to them. The scholarship is for those who are passionate about it and then help them by providing financial support to transcend them from their current qualification to the next level.
STEM is an educational approach that brings together science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It emphasizes the integration of these subjects to foster a deeper understanding and encourage practical problem-solving skills.
By combining these areas, STEM education aims to equip learners with a well-rounded foundation and prepare them for real-world challenges and opportunities.
Program of Study
Postgraduate programs relating to or under science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
Eligibility
To qualify for the scholarship, it is expected that the following requirements are met:
- Must be a woman with a background in STEM.
- Must be an international student from any of the eligible countries.
- Hold an undergraduate degree that allows entry into one of the designated postgraduate programs at a UK university (for Master’s level) or have completed all aspects of a PhD within the past three years (for Early Academic Fellowships).
- Must be able to demonstrate why you should get the scholarship.
- You should be ready and enthusiastic about actively participating as a dedicated British Council scholarship alumnus.
- Have the ability to achieve the English proficiency level needed.
- The intended applicant must be so passionate about the course and should also be line to be an inspiration for future generations.
- Be actively involved in your field, either through relevant work experience or by demonstrating genuine interest and passion for your chosen subject area.

Scholarship Value
About 5 beneficiaries can receive up to £35,000. The number of awardees may also be increased depending on the availability of funds.
Application Instruction
Before applying, ensure that all requirements are met. There are two groups, one for master and the other fellowship (PhD):
For Master’s
- To apply, you should first submit your applications directly to the participating universities.
- Understand that you are not required to apply through the British Council.
- When applying, remember that you need to submit separate applications for two things:
- Your preferred course: Fill out an application specifically for the course you wish to pursue.
- The Women in STEM scholarship: Additionally, apply separately for this scholarship if you are interested in it.
- All applicants can submit multiple applications if they have more than one preference, but make sure to apply through the preferred institution for each application.

For Fellow (PhD)
To become a Fellow, follow these steps:
- Apply *directly to the participating universities.
- Remember, you are not applying to the British Council.
- To qualify for an Early Academic Fellowship, you must have finished all the components of your Ph.D. within the past three years.
