Boston University Scholarship is an option open to first-time students. It is a merit-based scholarship that provides a diverse range of merit scholarships, including some that cover full tuition costs, to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of high-achieving students.
These awards predominantly focus on academic accomplishments but also extend to exceptional athletes, performers, and artists. The best part is that merit-based scholarships do not necessitate a financial aid application and are non-repayable.

Available Scholarships
1. Trustee Scholarship
It’s for highly accomplished individuals who engage actively in their schools and communities, offering a special campus experience.
2. Presidential Scholarship
The Presidential Scholarship at BU is awarded to outstanding first-year students worldwide who not only excel academically but also demonstrate leadership in their schools and communities.
3. National Merit Scholarship
National Merit Competition finalists who choose BU as their first choice college by March 1 through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will be eligible for this scholarship.
4. College of Engineering FIRST Robotics
This scholarship is available for College of Engineering applicants who have been involved in at least one season with a FIRST Robotics team.
Program of Study
Bachelor’s degree offered at the Host Institution.
Eligibility Criteria
- Would-be beneficiaries must be a student of Boston University.
- Be in the top 5% of your high school class.
- Excel in school and your community activities.
- While test scores aren’t mandatory, students who provide them must have SAT scores exceeding 1500 and ACT scores higher than 33.
Target Group
All merit awards and scholarships are available to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and eligible non-citizens.

Scholarship Value
- Trustee Scholarship: 20 Students who meet the criteria will receive full coverage of their tuition and fees.
- Presidential Scholarship: Students who meet the requirements will get an annual value of $25,000.
- National Merit Scholarship: Students who meet the criteria will be granted $25,000 for the year.
- College of Engineering FIRST Robotics: The scholarship value is $25,000 for the year. The number of recipients varies.

Deadline
The deadline for Trustee Scholarship and Presidential Scholarship is December 1, 2023. College of Engineering FIRST Robotics will stop taking applications by February 1, 2024, while the closing date for National Merit Scholarship is March 1, 2024.
