The African University of Science and Technology (AUST) is a pan-African institution established to promote excellence in science and technology education and research across the continent.

AUST was founded in 2007 in Abuja, Nigeria, as a private, non-profit institution. It was established through a partnership between the Nelson Mandela Institution (NMI) and the World Bank Institute. The university’s primary aim is to address the critical shortage of skilled professionals in science, engineering, and technology fields in Africa.

The institution operates under the auspices of the African Union and is governed by a Board of Trustees comprising eminent African leaders, scholars, and professionals. AUST offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various disciplines, including engineering, computer science, mathematics, natural sciences, and biotechnology.
